DEMERIS BAR-B-Q PLEDGES $50,000 TO ALS FOR “BRANDED” ICE BUCKET VIDEOS

$5 Donation for up to 10,000 Participants Spotlights Restaurant’s 50th Anniversary in 2014

Houston, TX – August 27, 2014 – Demeris Bar-B-Q, the family-owned enterprise that celebrates its  50th anniversary this year, is pledging to donate up to $50,000 to ALS based on the posting of “Ice Bucket Challenge” videos to the restaurant’s Facebook page between now and October 1, 2014.

Interested participants should document their participation in the Demeris-inspired version of the wildly popular national initiative via video, with cell phone recordings included.  Submissions must include an audio or signage reference to Demeris Bar-B-Q and should be posted to the Demeris Bar-B-Q Facebook page. The Demeris family will donate $5 for each unique post, for up to 10,000 posts.  Their donation check will be presented at the 11th Annual All In for ALS Charity Poker Tournament on January 24, 2015. Watch Yonny Demeris, partner in the Demeris Bar-B-Q and Catering enterprise, take the Ice Bucket Challenge with nine buckets in one sitting on the Demeris Bar-B-Q Facebook page at Facebook.com/DemerisBBQ.

“Our efforts to generate awareness and support for the research and treatment of ALS go back over a decade,” says Yonny Demeris, whose father was the late founder, Gus Demeris. “In the last 10 years, with the help of some great partners, we’ve raised over $1,500,000 locally for this cause. The popularity of the ice bucket challenge simply helps us get an earlier start this year.”

Supporters who would like to donate, but who would prefer a less chilling display of support, can make their donations online at AllInForALS.com at any time.
